Landscape Painting from class.

Trying to be more active on this blog so heres a super cropped (instagram) picture of my painting from todays class. Left one is my initial 30 second sketch, right one is at the end of the class. I never do landscapes or anything like this so I'm pretty happy with how it came out.

PART THREE)

Draw one image for this poem:

A minor bird:
I have wished a bird would fly away,
And not sing by my house all day;

Have clapped my hands at him from the door
When it seemed as if I could bear no more.

The fault must partly have been in me.
The bird was not to blame for his key.

And of course there must be something wrong
In wanting to silence any song.

Ira Glass on not quitting;

I think I've thrown out about 5 or 6 poster designs already, and figured it would probably be a good time to post this since I think it sums up how frustrated I am haha.

SAD WAVES FOR SAD PEOPLE (Working Title).

So this is a project I am working on at the moment- Here are 4 different styles I've done, I like the top one the most.

Anyway, here's my little spiel on all this.

In this drawing based project I explore the conflict between the rational mind and the emotional self and how this manifests in artwork. The conflict experienced is represented in the form of illustrated waves that embody the anxieties of self-regulating.

Homework assignment 1.1

Create a "doodle" page in black and white. Strive for spontaneity in your drawings.
  The page can be either Horizontal or vertical format. Make sure to have a dense variety of drawings, arranged into a harmonious composition.
You may cut and paste from many separate sheets of paper or draw on only one sheet, using some sort of grid system, or a free form arrangement. Combine all the drawings into one overall image that has some sort of organising principle.

Hint:You can draw at a larger size and reduce the image via photocopier.

From the Ivan Brunetti Book 'Cartooning: Philosophy and practice'.

ALSO  can everyone log in to moodle so that you are on my student list for campus online.
On moodle I can post things like letures, notes, pdfs etc (I cannot do this on blogger).
Thank you.

Juxtapoz!

Get into Juxtapoz for interesting art and inspiration! I went to Mag Nation on 88 elizabeth st which is jam packed with graphic design and photoshop mags but if you're cheap (like me) these mags can be found online for free if you are that way inclined and savvy. ;)

In Juxtapoz I found artist Marco Mazzoni who makes art of humans without eyes. Hauntingly beautiful.

Other good magazines to get into:

Life drawing stuff from last week

Panting model from last week. I can't remember if these were 2 or 5 minute poses.

Also guys I put this book as a PDF on the assets drive in the weekly section.  Please check it out, it could be a great source of inspiration to get you drawing more in your sketchbooks.
